Candle Care
Always burn your candles within sight, away from children and pets, away from anything flammable and on a heat resistant surface. Never leave candles burning unattended.
Do not place candles on or near other heat sources.
Avoid drafty areas.
Always trim your cotton wicks to 1/4” each time before lighting it - and we do mean each time! Doing this will avoid smoke and overheating of the vessel. Your candle comes pre trimmed to 1/4”. All candles (cotton and wood wick ) come pre trimmed.
For wood wicks, remove all charred wood from previous burns. If you don’t, the wick may not stay lit long enough to fuel the flame, causing it to extinguish itself. To trim a wooden wick remove all charred wood, we suggest using a wood wick trimmer (coming soon!) but in the meantime nail trimmers would also work.
Keep the hot wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches or any other flammable materials.
The first time you burn your candle, burn it long enough for the melted wax to reach all the way to the edge of your jar. If you don’t do this, the candle won’t burn correctly. There may be a little bit of a wax hang up and that’s okay, it will catch up the next time it burns.
Don’t burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. This is a really important one!
Stop burning your candle when only 1/2” of wax remains. If you choose to continue to burn a low wax candle, the heat will transfer to the glass instead of the wax. When you get to this point, check out our mindful living candle refill program!
